Top Honeymoon Getaways in the World

Determining where to honeymoon with your sweetie is best part of planning a wedding. Mexico and Cuba are so 2006 and you can’t trust throwing a random dart on a map to decide your getaway. What if you end up in Antarctica!

To ease you’re travel conundrum, we’ve compiled a list of eight of the most beautiful and exotic locals in the world (in no particular order) where you’ll want to runway and escape from it all.

Bali, Indonesia

Part of the Republic of Indonesia, the island of Bali is located approximately nine degrees south of the equator, which means you’ll be feeling hot, hot, hot! LonelyPlanet.com calls Bali “quite possibly the most seductive island on earth” and with its white sandy beaches, lush forests, myriad of water sports and rich Hindu culture this paradise will certainly captivate you.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

We island hop to our next honeymoon spot to beautiful Bora Bora. With dramatic landscapes like Mount Otemanu, emerald waters and hibiscus flowers hanging from every plant this place was made for romance and room service. Bora Bora offers a range of accommodations from the Four Seasons to number one rated B&B on Trip Advisor the Bora Bora Fishing Paradise Lodge.

Cape Town, South Africa

Our next stop is Cape Town, South Africa. We picked this location because you’ll have the options of visiting a bustling metropolis or a quite beach. The city offers plenty of accommodations, for big budget spender or thrifty travelers, a superb culinary scene and a growing hub for international design.

Anywhere in Italy

We love Italy so much that we can’t pinpoint an exact location for you and your honey to pass the time, so why not tour the entire country. From the fashion capital of Milan in the north to the island of Sicily in the south you’ll see many historic sites, take in the rich culture and, most importantly, the food! Pasta, cheese, prosciutto and grapes oh my!

Goa, India

Vacationing in India for your honeymoon may not rank at the top of your list, but consider the west coast state of Goa. It was once a Portuguese province for more than 450 years until it was annexed by India in 1961. It is the country’s smallest, yet richest state, renowned for its pristine beaches, architectural heritage and many prominent local festivals. Word on the street says that celebrating Goan Carnival (beginning of March), Christmas and New Year’s here can be a lot of fun.

Anywhere in Greece

What’s not to love about Greece! The country offers couples the option of skiing on the slopes of Mt. Parnassos in the winter to beach getaways along the Aegean and Ionian Seas. Many of Greece’s island beaches have been given the blue flag under the Blue Flags of Europe Program, certifying its water quality, safety and environmental education. One thing we didn’t forget to mention is the food; traditional dishes such as moussaka, souvlaki and choriatiki are waiting to be devoured by you!

Jamaica

The jerk chicken is spicy, the Red Stripe beer is smooth and the people are irie. Welcome to Jamaica! This island paradise has consistently been one of the most popular spots for newlyweds around the world for years. All major airline carriers from Canada fly here, usually stopping in Montego Bay or Kingston, and the country offers world class, adult-only, resorts such as the Hotel Riu Palace Jamaica and Azul Sensatori Jamaica, as well as highly rated B&Bs like Polkerris and The Blue House Boutique Bed & Breakfast.

Brazil

Ole ole ole ole! Practice your soccer chant as you and your honey fly to the exotic South American country of Brazil. Home to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the country’s world famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, and the Christ the Redeemer monument and will surely be on your list of must-visit sights. However, if you want a remote stretch of coastline to yourselves then escape north to the fishing village of Picinguaba, four hours from Sé£o Paulo.
