Here’s some good news to come on this sunny but effing freezing Friday morning: Netflix’s series Girlboss, based on Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso’s life, released its first teaser image, proving that this show is for sure a go. Set for an April release, we don’t have a lot of details or a trailer yet (and not even an official date), but this is what we do know:
Inspired by Amoruso’s memoir of the same name, Girlboss will focus on Amoruso’s life as she becomes the queen of her fashion empire Nasty Gal (a site that we just can’t quit and don’t even want to bother trying), starting by selling vintage clothes on eBay.
The 13-episode first season will star Britt Robertson as Amoruso, whose previous claims to fame include Under the Dome, The Longest Ride and Tomorrowland, Ellie Reed, Alphonso McAuley, Johnny Simmons and Dean Norris. Executive producer and showrunner Kay Cannon has been on tkkk films like Pitch Perfect (and its sequel) and 30 Rock. Other notable names on the producer list include Charlize Theron and Christian Ditter (who also produced the seriously underrated How to be Single), plus Amoruso herself.
So, that’s all we know for now, but we can all revel in the one image that has been released and go back and re-read the book that inspired the series (and then Nasty Galaxy because it’s brand new and we love new stuff) to get some badass career inspo until the show starts streaming.
