Sophie Trudeau has made yet another Canadian fashion statement and we couldn’t be more excited!
Canada has been making waves since electing Prime Minister Justine Trudeau and his great head of hair into office. And quite like our neighbours to the south, it’s not just him that’s making a statement. Canada’s First lady Sophie Gré©goire-Trudeau has become a bit of an icon herself, not only for supporting her PM husband (who might just be the ultimate #relationshipgoals), but also supporting her own initiatives and causes–and looking really great while doing it.
She’s not the first Prime Minister’s wife to be in the public eye, but taking a play out of Michelle Obama’s book, she’s certainly at the top of our best dressed list, making a particularly patriotic statement when visiting the Obamas at the White House.
Arriving in Washington D.C. for the preamble welcome ceremony for tonight’s State Dinner, Sophie Trudeau arrived wearing a bright red printed dress by Canada’s very own Lucian Matis. Sophie and Justin (we’re on a first-name basis, of course) arrived and were greeted by Barack and Michelle (who continues to provide our daily arm fitspo) at the welcome ceremony where they all laughed and chatted like old pals and Sophie looked like a vision, even standing out next to Michelle with her vibrant fitted dress against a backdrop of neutral shades.
This isn’t the first time Sophie has supported her Canadian roots when it comes to fashion, also donning an Erdem dress when she went to meet the Queen (that’s the fanciest thing I’ve ever written). While we know Michelle obviously doesn’t need fashion tips, we hope her meeting with Sophie inspires her to start shopping with designers above the border–and we’ll be keeping an eye out for when she does!
We can’t wait to see what (or who) she’s going to wear tonight!
