One door closes and another opens. Behold: the current mantra of The City star Whitney Port after she confirmed to Ryan Seacrest yesterday that her MTV reality series has officially come to a close.
Going on to say she’s currently in the midst of a couple of projects, this change in the network’s TV lineup seems to come just in time for Lauren Conrad’s latest on-screen venture in which we (again) explore the wide world of fashion.
So what does this mean? Well, for starters, despite Ms. Conrad’s recent endeavour, it means the era of The Hills and all things associated have finally come to a close. It’s safe to say Lauren’s show will be a fresh start from the Laguna Beach (remember that?) formula that defined over five years of pop culture television.
It also means that unless Bravo’s renewed Kelly Cutrone’s series, Kell On Earth, we’re going to have to make do with her book and watch reruns in order to get our fix of the fashion powerhouse. (That’s the reason anyone really watched the show, right?)
And don’t even get me started on life without the Erin-Olivia power stuggle. (Empty.)
So goodbye to The City and the legacy it left. Personally, I’m counting the days until Lauren’s new show and a new chapter in guilty pleasure TV. Jersey Shore‘s just not cutting it.
