After we watched Michelle Williams win a Golden Globe for her role in My Week With Marilyn, hearts warmed world over after she beautifully dedicated the win to her daughter, Matilda.
Of course, this probably means the current issue of GQ that Michelle Williams is on the cover of will fly off the shelves – especially since she opens up about her late ex-partner (and Matilda’s father), Heath Ledger.
“It was making me crazy,” Michelle Williams said of the subsequent paparazzi attention. “I felt like I was going crazy. It was too much – trying to deal with what happened and trying to deal with what was at our doorstep. I just felt trapped. And it’s not just me – there’s somebody else who I’m trying to protect, and I can’t. I can’t make it stop. I can’t make it go away.”
Though Michelle Williams’ Golden Globe acceptance win further proved the actress’ dedication to her daughter, whose “bravery and exuberance is the example that I take with me in my work and my life” before saying that reuniting with Heath Ledger is “one of [her] favourite things to remember.”
The actress also opened about Marilyn Monroe herself – the woman she so successfully transformed into.
“I remember . . . being all suited up as Marilyn and walking from the dressing room onto the soundstage practicing my wiggle,” she recalled. “There were three or four men gathered around a truck, and I remember seeing that they were watching me . . . and for the first time I glimpsed some idea of the pleasure I could take in that kind of attention; not their pleasure, but for my pleasure. And I thought, Oh maybe Marilyn felt that when she walked down the beach.”
