Downton Abbey fans, rejoice! The show that has captured the hearts of TV and fashion fans alike is finally releasing its own clothing collection. Even though the show was an instant success when it launched in 2010, the Downton Abbey bosses wanted to choose just the right time to start launching merchandise.
"Its a very slow burn the moment you get into retail, it's extremely cautious, it has to test the established brand," executive producer of Downton Abbey, Gareth Nearne, said. "No one wants to launch products if the show's going to be a flop."
The Downton Abbey clothing line will be accompanied by a range of merchandise that will include everything from beauty products to furniture.
"We'll be working across an entire range of products coming out this year," Nearne added. "From fashion apparel and homeware and furniture to wallpapers, beauty products and stationary. Some of these things have been available since 2012 — we publish books and have made a music album, but the more complex products take time."
Downton Abbey is a period drama set in the early 1900s. The show follows the intertwined stories of the Crawley family and their many servants. The collection is expected to hit stores later this year.
