Amanda Bynes took to her Twitter account to announce that she will be retiring from acting. “I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been apart of I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play,” the 24-year-old posted.
Bynes was last seen in a major motion picture back in 2007 in Sydney White. Three years is quite a long time for such a young actress to be out of the public eye. Although, she has starred in two TV movies since then.
“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem. If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it,” Bynes said, explaining to her Twitter followers why she is leaving her acting life behind.
At 24, it seems unusual for Bynes to be ready to retire already since she has been working as an actress since the age of 13. Even more so unusual, is the fact that Bynes has a movie due out this fall. Easy A stars Emma Stone and Bynes as the supporter and seems like your typical, fun, slightly entertaining, full or mediocrity, teen movie. Perhaps this is what pushed Bynes over the edge?
“I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I’ve retired,” Bynes declared.
Will the young, former actress leave the entire entertainment industry behind and perhaps find solace is academics? Who knows, but I’m sure it is just a matter of hours before Bynes gives us a little bit more fuel to play with.
