Awards Season is Upon Us—Here’s What to Expect

2016 has come to a close (hallelujah), and as we begin the new year there are plenty of entertaining things to look forward to in 2017. Case in point: the crowning of our favourite stars, TV shows and films. While we may be biased in our own selections, there are the committees and critics that have weighed in their top picks and predictions for the 2017 award season, and with that we shall reflect on the good and the snubs, with some past awards' memories that may seemingly repeat this coming season. From returning vets to a new slew of binge-worthy programming, the 2017 awards season has a stack of names and features that we're stoked to see the outcome of.

But before we get to this year's predictions, let's rewind and recall some of the most memorable moments from 2016.

We cannot deny that 2016 was a big year for Amy Schumer. From her movie, Trainwreck, to her stand-up comedy and television show, to her best-selling book (The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo), Schumer dominated. It was only fitting that her and Jennifer Lawrence presented together on stage at the Golden Globes, proving once again that her comedic timing is on point. The best is when she told the audience to turn off their phones. In sum, JLaw and self-proclaimed A-Schu once again show why they are two of the most beloved stars out there right now.
