Why I’m Loving Moroccanoil’s New Color Depositing Mask

As someone who religiously uses Moroccanoil products to tame her colored tresses, I was over the moon to learn about their new Color Depositing Masks.

These dual-benefit masks provides all the nourishing benefits of a deep conditioning treatment along with temporary color. There are seven shades to play around with: Pink Hibiscus, Cocoa, Aquamarine, Rose Gold, Champagne, Platinum, and Bordeaux.

Moroccanoil’s Color Depositing Masks, $37, add temporary color that’s designed to gradually fade out over time. The length of time depends on several factors such as your starting shade, how often you wash your hair, and your hair’s porosity. That means, if you frequently color your heat or use heat styling products, the sooner it will fade.

As someone with dark brunette hair color who frequently highlights her hair, I was surprised that shades like rose gold and pink were able to appear quite visibly on my hair. Especially on the highlighted strands, I loved seeing the glowing rose gold — a tequila sunrise shade I couldn’t really apply on my dark strands permanently. This mask allowed me to play with that shade for over two weeks. I loved experimenting with the colors — my favorite was bordeaux if I wanted to mix in with my brunette shade and of course, rose gold. Pink was a bit too vibrant on my tresses.

The best part is that the masks are intensely nourishing treatments, and do not contain ammonia, peroxide, or bleach. They also contain ArganID technology, which infuses argan oil deep into hair’s cortex and helps seal the cuticle. They also feature an amino acid blend to nourish, detangle, and boost shine, plus Apricot Kernel Oil to help soften hair and improve hydration with oleic acid, linoleic acid, and Vitamin E.

I feel that this is the best way to have fun with a wide range of shades, without paying the price of coloring your hair or damaging it. I only wish this was available in a bigger tube — with all of my hair, I easily finished one tube in one use. But if you intend to just add highlights of color, say with vibrant pink, this would be perfect. With highlights of fun colors still a popping trend this year, you can’t go wrong with this color depositing mask.
