We’re getting back to nature with nail colour. The ‘90s were of course famous for making brown-tinged tones a haute shade for tips, and today we’re seeing a resurge of chocolate shades ranging from creamy mocha to deep cacao.
In keeping with this return to rich, natural tones, there’s also a whole new palette of beautiful earthen hues for nails at play: Forest greens, clay reds and sandy nudes. Our favourite way to way these statement shades is with a classic, solid-colour manicure. If you do want to add a hit of colour play, consider adding one or two accent nails in a similarly toned polish to create a modern monochrome effect.
Here’s our picks of the eight best earth tone polish shades to wear now.
CND Vinylux in Aura
This dark forest green polish packs a major wow factor, and is a fresh alternative to navy or graphite.
Essie Expressie Nail Polish in Take the Espresso
Consider this brown hue the most classic of ‘90s throwback shades. We love this polish’s lightning-fast drying time!
OPI Nail Lacquer in Over the Taupe
This is a beautiful earthen tone that’s a match for everything from jeans and sweats, to an LBD.
Smith & Cult Nail Polish in Tang Bang
Instead of red, reach for a shimmering burnt orange polish as your dramatic colour of choice.
Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure Vegan Nail Colour in Soothing Slate
If you love moody grey shades, make this striking charcoal polish as your everyday mani-must.
Chanel Le Vernis in Solar
This brown-meets-copper colour has a shimmering reflective finish reminiscent of crackling firewood embers.
Londontown Lakur Enhanced Colour in Star Moss
Olive, khaki, and moss are the ‘It’ tones of the mo, and we love polish for its creamy, high-gloss finish.
Revlon Ultra HD SNAP! in Driven
This quick-dry polish requires just one coat to achieve mani perfection, and it’s also 100 percent vegan!
