Product Of The Week: Sona Peel Off Lip Stain

We’ve been dying to try Sona’s Peel Off Lip Stains. Something about having long-lasting, stay-put colour that only needs the odd hydrating swipe of a lip balm throughout the day is super appealing. But we’re not going to lie; it’s the peeling-off component that intrigues us the most. 

We’ve used lip stains in the past—they’re one of those under-the-radar essentials that do more than they allude to and that everyone has at least one of on hand. We like them because they deliver sheer, buildable colour that sinks into our lips instead of sitting on top of them, and when they do finally wear off, they fade in a way that looks natural, not patchy. But Sona’s peel-off part is what makes using this lippie so much fun.

And it’s easy to use too. All we do is apply a smooth layer of the formula’s wet colour across our natural (a.k.a: non-hydrated, non-lip-balmed lips), let the formula set for a minute or two until it feels dry to the touch and then, starting at the corner edge of our mouth, we gently peel the layer of colour off our lips. All that’s left behind is a soft, even stain that won’t smudge or transfer all day and night long. 

The formula is pretty great too. It contains glycerin to draw in moisture, castor oil to help soften our lips and panthenol to soothe them, so that the end result feels lightweight rather than dry, no matter which hue we’re wearing. There are four shades to choose from, too. “Bloom” (our current favourite) is a fresh, petal pink. “Chestnut” leans warm and earthy with a soft brown tone. “Clay” is a muted brown-rose, while “Crimson” offers a deep berry red tinge. You can’t go wrong.
