Product Of The Week: L’Oréal Professionnel SérieExpert Blondifier

Adriana Ermter spent hours in the shower washing in cool blonde-enhancing haircare line to find the best one so you don’t have to…

I love a good blonde-enhancing shampoo and conditioner. Which is why I’m constantly in the shower, test-driving the next latest and greatest highlights-saving hair care. Picking the right products may seem like a no-brainer and I’m the first to admit it kind of is, but only if my sole goal is to match the bottle label with my hair shade. But it’s not. There’s a method to my madness. I don’t just want pretty, pale locks; I also want healthy, shiny and thick-looking hair, you know, like Georgia May Jagger or Reese Witherspoon.

Thing is, my hair has been there and done that, starting with the first of waaay too many home perms when I was six. The years that followed were a sea of DIY all-over blonde hair colour, in-salon perms, in-salon highlights, hot rollers and hair dryers—all with a healthy dose of chlorine, courtesy of formerly being a competitive synchronized swimmer. So while the chemical curls have been safely stuffed in my back pocket, my thin and fine hair still needs damage control.

L’Oréal Professionnel SérieExpert Blondifier colour-saving quartet is the fix. And if you’re anything like me and I think you think you are—rumour has it that 23 per cent of Canadian women are blonde, while 50 per pent of all salon-generated colour is Elle Woods-inspired—you’re going to want to try it. Complete with a shampoo, conditioner, mask and gloss formulated with the Brazilian antioxidant açai polyphenol, the dark purple berry-infused line not only helps stop brassy, yellow hues and fading, it also works to hydrate and smooth my hair’s cuticle, saving it from breaking and leaving it soft, shiny and easy to comb through when its wet. It’s worth the double-digit price tags too, because now I’m only popping into my salon for quarterly highlights, instead of my regular half dozen.

L’Oréal Professionnel SérieExpert Blondifier Cool Shampoo, Conditioner, Mask and Gloss, from $26 each, available at hair salons.
