I’ve been going through a sheer lipstick phase phase for the past couple of weeks and while I have multiple choices, lately BeautyCounter’s Sheer Lipstick in “Currant – Rich Maroon” has been my go-to. So, here’s the thing about sheer lipsticks.
They’re crazy time saving because when I’m in a rush or just don’t feel a full face of makeup, after applying a layer of mascara I can swipe one on and look polished, in a natural kind of way. I also like the muted berry-ish colour “Currant – Rich Maroon” adds to my lips, it’s there, but in a subtle way and if I want to make it darker I just keep on swiping until I get the effect I want. It’s one of those shades that go with everything and it’s slightly brownish undertone feels and looks a little more fresh than my usual roster of pinks and berries. That probably explains why I keep pairing it with my jeans, dresses and I’m not going to lie, my at-home sweatpants. But if I want to mix it up I can.
The line also has 10 additional pretty shades to choose from, including a shimmery “Pearl” and a pinky-red “Poppy,” so technically I could easily wear a different colour every day and then some. Each bullet of silky colour has been formulated with jojoba esters and carnauba wax to hydrate and condition my lips, preventing any little tears, flakes or dryness. An added benefit to the lipstick’s sheer quality is that it adds a sheen to my mouth that I think makes my lips look plumper and fuller. I can also apply it without a mirror, on a bumpy bus ride, in the dark, wherever, whenever, it’s that easy. And it looks that good too, because even if I do colour outside my lip line I can just smooth my fingers along the edges and wipe any mistakes away.
