Annabelle’s 10 Bouncy Bouncy Eyeshadow colours will never transform me into Christy, Cindy or Tatjana, circa George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90” video. Not that I’ll morph into A-listers Kendall Jenner or Joan Smalls, either. And as much as I hope, pray and layer up on “Head in the Clouds” neutral rosy-pink hue, I still won’t pass for Sutherland Models’ latest and oh-so bookable face, Victoria Thomsen. But I still wear it. Every. Single. Day.
It’s my new favourite eyeshadow. It makes me over into a fresher, prettier, more wide-awake looking version of myself in literally less than five minutes.
I chalk it up to the drugstore beauty brand’s super soft, creamy, sponge-like formula. It let’s me embrace my inner lazy girl and apply each of the 10 colours (“Pop The Campagne,” “Booty Shake,” “Mama Mia,” “Rumba y Playa,” “Disco Inferno,” “Bling or Blink,” “Fiesta Chica,” “High in the Sky,” “Muchacha Bonita,” and of course, “Head in the “Clouds”) with my fingertips. Which, if you do the math, means I have a shade for every finger and thumb.
Not that I’m not swiping on all 10 at the same time. Tempting as it is, I’m not 12 years old any more and have developed some restraint over the years. But I could blend multiple colours on if I wanted to, since they’re meant to mix and match. I’ve been going the sheer rosy-pink route for day and then building the colour for night, though. I like it and it doesn’t smudge or crease, always an extra plus for me considering I have sweaty eyelids. Same goes for the collection’s Face & Body Glow in “Coco Loco.” I haven’t tried it on my body yet (too may turtlenecks and layers), but I do rub (with my fingers) its sparkling bronze hue on the apples of my cheeks and along my cheekbones when I want some extra, model-worthy oomph.
