The latest and greatest make-up trends for fall 2011 features smokey eyes, bold brows, flawless skin, and deeply coloured nails. Past decades are an influence this fall season as makeup designers use looks from the 60’s and 70’s. Extremes from bold and deep hues for eyes and lips to nude shades for skin, eyes, and lips are trending for fall 2011.
Smokey Eyes and Bold Brows
The trend for fall is dark, smokey eyes and metallics. Colours for eyes range from deep gem tones of emerald, navy to red, orange and greys and surprising neutrals like beige. Combine these smokey shades and metallic hues with thick layers of dramatic eyelashes to bring out the best in your eye colours. Wear neutral eyeshadow then top it with a metallic tint to go from daytime to evening. Eyeliner is in and used in thin and thick lines. Those smokey deep eyes must be matched with bold accented brows. Eyebrows are defined with pencil for full, boxy, filled-in brows.
Bold Lips
The colour for lips this fall is red. Imagine every shade of red, ranging from deep red, crimson, burgundy, violet, and plum. Dark lips are in on the runway, with deep red a favorite shade. Again neutrals play a part in the fall makeup lineup where the bold deep colours are accompanied by choices of neutral barely there lipsticks in nude, beige and pale pink.
Flawless Skin
Skin must look flawless this coming season. Think fresh and luminous. The look is dewy and natural skin with a flush of blush on the cheeks, creating glowing, high cheekbones. Standout colours are the eyes and lips against soft, moist foundation that is barely there with a matte skin look. The aim for this fall’s skin is to use foundation yet look as if you have no makeup on, simple in concept but not easy to achieve.
Deep Coloured Lacquer Nails
Nails will shine with deeply coloured lacquer shades of wine, blues, and tempered with neutrals. Nails on the runway were black and white with jeweled decorations, as well as ornate decorated nails with tuxedo designs to white nails with printed messages. Metallics again are part of the overall fall look from eyes to nails, with metallic nails revisited from the 80’s. Again neutral colours including greige (a cross between gray, brown, and beige) and nude for nails can be found in the trends for fall.
