Oscar de la Renta’s latest eau de parfum, Alibi Eau Sensuelle, blends so many of our favourite things.
First, naturally, is the scent itself. A warm and sunny floral, on initial inhalation it bequeaths fresh and sweet notes of bergamot, mandarin orange and white tea blossoms. Sensual orchid, intimate osmanthus and tender rose notes soon follow before being absorbed into a base of creamy amber, sandalwood, musk and skin. Its rare assortment fuels our senses, which we love, triggering emotions that intrigue and mesmerize, like a cherished well-kept secret.
“I wanted to craft a seductive fragrance that would fuse with the skin like a soft whisper; a gentle touch that lingers to create a sense of intrigue—a warm and luxurious signature,” affirms Catherine Selig, the bespoke perfumer for Sensuelle and its alumni, 2021’s Alibi Eau de Parfum and 2022’s Alibi Eau de Toilette.
Next, is the bottle. Inspired by Oscar de la Renta’s beloved Alibi handbag, Sensuelle differentiates itself from the Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette with its beautiful, frosted finish. The weighty, square glass flacon, however, is a nod to the now iconic shape of its fragrant predecessors. Timeless, the structured silhouette with its luminous detail is accompanied with elegant, gold, hardware detailing.
Last but not least, is the eau’s clean and crisp packaging, a tribute to the artistry of the Oscar de la Renta Alibi handbag. With its inclusion of debossed pick stitch and Saffiano leather details that frame the edges of the white and gold-detailed carton, from the outside inwards, the perfume embodies the elegance that the Dominican designer was renowned for.
Oscar de la Renta Alibi Eau Sensuelle EDP, from $95 for 50 ml to $158.90 for 100 ml, available at Shoppers Drug Mart and online at www.oscardelarenta.com. Note: prices may vary.
