It’s baaack! And permanently too. Which means we’re finally breathing a sigh of relief that we can now have regular, consistent access to Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty, Fenty Eau de Parfum. Because boy, when it first launched in 2021, we were left wanting (we may or may not have been crying too, as it wasn’t available for international shipping), then waitlisted (for our US-based friends to pick us up a bottle) and now, spritzing (with abandon, knowing there’s more where it came from online and in store in Canada) the once super limited and perennially coveted scent.
And yes, the scent is just that good. Fresh and juicy blueberry and tangerine notes open the chypre floral fragrance before they are mix-mastered into a light, green and sweet bouquet of Bulgarian rose, geranium and magnolia blossoms. A base of intimate musk and spiced patchouli complete the eau, giving it both an earthy and a heavenly quality. Its overall effect feels personal, endearing and oh-so real.
“This isn’t about a fantasy—I wanted to experience truth,” affirms Rihanna, the founder of Fenty Beauty about her best-selling perfume on the brand’s website. “Fenty Eau de Parfum is for remembering what’s real. What began as a garden walk in the global center of perfume became an unapologetic expression of my full and true essence.”
As for the eau’s essence, it is captured in a square faceted, glass, amber-brown-tinted bottle. Its topper mirrors the flacon’s shape and boasts the Fenty brand’s design carved right into the top of the cap. Carefully crafted to fit into the singer/song writer’s palm, the bottle is simple and clean with a grounding and calming aesthetic.
“I wanted a rich colour that really represented all genders from across all walks of life,” Rihanna said in a previous interview for Harper’s Baazar. “Brown is my favorite colour. Brown is who I am. Brown is what I come from. If I’m going to make a fragrance that represents me, even the body language of the bottle needs to marry that.”
And so it is.
