While not quite as steeped as the almost two-hundred-year-old House of Guerlain or as freshly poured as newbie five-year-old BeauFort London, Bottega Veneta and its roster of sensually timeless perfumes consistently and fragrantly float up in the middle.
Illusione for Her, the Italian brand’s 30th bottle in its line-up of scented successes continues this legacy with its floral, woody, musky scent.
Courtesy of its opening notes of tart bergamot and juicy black currant, the eau starts off aromatic and fresh. It then eases into a pool of sweet orange blossom and green fig leaves for a warm and herbal Mediterranean feel before drying down into a woody, musky and intimate vibe replete with olive tree and tonka notes.
Elegant, smooth and covetous, this eau is so easy to spritz on that you can see why its maker has been and continues to be the epitome of luxury…for 50 years and counting. And complete with famous fanfare to boot. Favoured by the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and the Empress Farah Pahlavi, Bottega Veneta’s runway styles have since been worn by everyone from Lauren Hutton and Rihanna to Christy Turlington, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Amal Clooney. Even Andy Warhol was rumoured to have made a short film for the Italian brand in the ’80s.
Now it’s your turn. After all, anyone who’s anyone knows that the middle is always the best place to be.
