Perhaps it’s because I pout a lot, or perhaps it’s because I’m a lip gloss addict. I like to keep my lips as full and soft as possible, to provide the perfect gloss canvas (and the most attractive kissing surface!) Therefore, lip plumpers are an important component of my beauty routine. I’m always on the hunt for products that will enhance my lips without the need for costly (and painful) injections. Here’s a rundown of my favourite lip-pumping products:
Dermaglow Nuvectin Collagen Lip Plumper ($25)
I noticed a difference in the fullness of my lips almost immediately after smoothing this on. The more I used it, the better my lips looked. This formula also provides a heavy hit of moisture and corrects fine lines and furrows. Plus, it helps prevent my lip-gloss from bleeding, which is a definite bonus.
Neostrata Anti-Wrinkle Lip Plumper ($36)
This one has a fresh, minty taste, and a subtle glossy sheen. I often carry it in my purse and use it throughout the day, in place of regular gloss. The formula makes my lips feel smooth and full, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and also enhances the natural colour of my lips, so, especially when I’m wearing minimal makeup, I don’t need anything else on my lips.
DuWop Lip Venom Plumping Paste ($18)
The Lip Venom line has achieved cultish status, so I decided I’d finally find out what all the beauty buzz was about. And this plumping paste is as intense as it sounds, rich with castor seed oil and hydrogenated jojoba. It also does double duty by exfoliating with jojoba beads. This product is a little different than the others I’ve tried: instead of wearing it all day, you smooth it on, then wipe it away after ten minutes, leaving the lips ready for lipstick or lip-gloss application. It instantly smoothed my lips and made them feel extra pouty and ultra-moisturized.
Pur Minerals Pout Plumping Lip Gloss ($16)
I like this one best because it’s both a shiny gloss and a plumper. It has a delicate flavour and a range of gorgeous shades”my favourite is Enchanted. I also adore it because it’s not sticky or tacky, and contains natural, mineral-based ingredients.
