Desert Island Beauty: Fashion PR Maven Adrien Reynolds

What are the essentials that make up your beauty or style profile? In this new series, we ask our coolest girlfriends about the things they’d choose to take with them if they were going to be stranded on a desert island forevermore. With no hope of rescue and the only guarantee being that their picks will be replenished once they run out, our would-be islanders share the holy grail products that they’d stick to till the very end of time:

How would you describe your personal style? Eclectic, vintage and androgynous. I’m struck by patterns and moods.

What are some brands that you’re really into? I’m always drawn to Sandro and Horses Atelier. And, of course, recent Gucci has been knocking me dead (despite being slightly beyond my price range.)

Let’s get to it, then. You’re trapped on a desert island and you can only take 5 style-related items with you. What do you pick?
A pair of metallic culottes, a wild statement earring, a print bomber in a coloured animal print and simple black and white tees. Sassy yet comfortable for those long, lonely days and nights.

Let’s complete your castaway kit. What is your perspective on skincare and beauty?
My makeup regimen is quite minimal and a bit 60s-inspired; putting on my many coats of mascara is always a laborious morning task. I also like a big pink highlight pop on the cheeks for a doll-like embellishment. And, if I’m feeling spicy, a bold eyebrow. Skincare is inspired by the compulsion to explore but I’ve finally found my core regime so I’m sticking with it.

Are there any makeup/skincare brands you’re really into?
I dig YSL for beauty. For skincare, I mix Deciem, Clinique, Drunk Elephant, Avé¨ne and La Roche-Posay. Paula’s Choice and beauty editor pals are my aesthetic bibles.

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara

Same deal as before: you’re trapped on a desert island and you get an endless supply of only 5 skincare and makeup items. What would you pick?
L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara, YSL Volupte Tint In Oil, MAKE UP FOR EVER Full Cover Concealer, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer Gel and La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Fluid Lotion SPF 60.

Now the kit is complete. Since you’re stranded on this island forevermore, I’ll give you a chance to pass on some key advice to the rest of us on the mainland. What is a piece of style or beauty advice that’s always struck you as timeless?
Water truly is your best friend. As a teenager, my mom told me she read in a tabloid that Victoria Beckham drinks something wild, (and absolutely inaccurate) like 10 litres of water a day. It stuck with me due to its ridiculousness, but also due to the underlying truth that water cleanses impurities and helps promote radiance from the inside out. As far as style goes, the best advice I’ve received is to stay curious and do whatever the hell you want.
