Best Drugstore Beauty Buys

Some may argue that you have to shell out a ton of money on high-end beauty products to achieve a flawless look, but quite frankly, you can get the same effect shopping at the drugstore. That’s right, many drugstore beauty products contain very similar (if not identical in some) formulations and ingredients that will help you put your best face forward.

So the next time you take a trip to your local drugstore try out some of the following products that will give you the most bang for your buck; and trust me, you’ll be a drugstore convert!

Mascara:
While Maybelline’s Great Lash mascara ($6) is one of the beauty industry’s all-time favourite, there are two new-ish products to the mascara block that deliver amazing results for under $10. Remember how long, lush lashes are all the rage this season? Well, you can achieve the look with Maybelline’s Falsies mascara ($9) that delivers thick lashes with its Keratin enriched formulation, or try CoverGirl’s Lash Blast Fusion ($9), which provides your lashes with both length and volume. Seriously, I have been using Covergirl’s mascara for over a month now and have NEVER had any clumps!

Foundation:
If you weren’t blessed with freakishly perfect skin bestowed upon you by your mama (le sigh), at least the rest of us can take comfort in products that allow us to enhance what we naturally have. Two foundations that deliver on both quality and price are Revlon’s ColorStay liquid foundation ($17) for a flawless, sheer look (also now available in a mineral powder formula), and Maybelline’s Mineral Power Natural Perfecting liquid foundation ($14), which provides your skin with a radiant, natural finish.

Blush:
A natural, rosy flush to the cheeks is a must-do in my beauty manual”it brings life to your face and enhances your cheekbones for a model-esque appearance. For only $5 (!), Covergirl’s Cheekers blush contains flecks of shimmer to deliver a more radiant glow, while Maybelline’s Dream Mousse blush ($9) is a cream formula that is lightweight and sets to a natural finish that lasts for hours.

Lips:
Want to attract attention with a boldly coloured pucker? Launched last summer in Canada, Revlon’s ColorBurst lipstick ($10) provides mega-watt pigment but literally feels as if you have nothing on your lips! The hydrating formula is available in 20 shades and has become a favourite of beauty junkies and editors alike. No surprise considering makeup artist-to-the-stars, Gucci Westman, took over as Creative Director for the company.
