The Team Canada zip-up fleece jacket worn by Shane Hollander in Heated Rivalry is getting an official release. After rumours of an official release, plenty knock-off copies, and numerous DIY tutorials spread across the internet showing how to make your own Team Canada fleece at home, Heated Rivalry producer Accent Aigu Entertainment has struck a merchandise deal with the Province of Canada apparel company to produce the now-iconic fleece jacket.
“We’re so excited to partner with Province of Canada. As a Canadian-based, independent apparel brand that does amazing work sourcing and manufacturing high-quality clothing, we share a common ethos. We look forward to bringing it to life with the creativity and care fans expect,” Jacob Tierney and Brendan Brady, said executive producers and co-presidents of Accent Aigu Entertainment.
Heated Rivalry costume designer Hanna Puley originally designed the white and red Team Canada fleece jacket for Shane to wear when he played for Team Canada at the Sochi Olympics in the second episode of Crave’s hit queer TV series.
“I wanted to make something that felt wearable, something that felt comfortable, and something that would contrast with what Ilya was wearing,” Puley told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month when she dished on the fleece jacket as well as other memorable Shane and Ilya’s outfits from the series.
Puley’s original wardrobe design quickly went viral after Ottawa’s Sylvie Bouffard made her own version of the jacket and posted it online. That led to social media calls and even an online petition urging the real Team Canada, the country’s elite hockey players headed to the 2026 Winter Olympics next month, to make Shane’s fleece zip-up jacket part of its upcoming Winter Olympics merchandise. “Fans are the heart of Heated Rivalry, and this is entirely because of them. We’ve listened closely to what they’ve been asking for, and the fleece jacket has been at the top of that list,” Tierney and Brady said in a statement.
Details on pricing, availability and a release date for the merchandise fleece jacket will be announced soon, however, Province of Canada did confirm that the fleece jackets will be made in Canada. The brand also confirmed that 10% of all proceeds from The Fleece jacket’s sales will be donated to a LGBTQ+ charitable organization, also to be announced at a later date.
