Taylor Swift recently announced her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl sharing the 12-song track list, which includes a song titled “Elizabeth Taylor.” In celebration of Swift’s nod to the iconic actress, House of Taylor (which has been authorized by Elizabeth Taylor’s official estate) is dropping a sweatshirt in the album’s orange colour palette with Elizabeth Taylor right on the front.

From one showgirl to another!
Of course, “Elizabeth Taylor,” which is track two on The Life of a Showgirl, is not the first time that Swift has expressed interest in the old Hollywood star, who died on March 23, 2011. Swift previously compared herself to Taylor on reputation’s “…Ready For It?” where where she sings ‘He can be my jailor / Burton to this Taylor,” a nod to the legendary love story of Taylor and Richard Burton. Taylor and Burton married twice in 1965 and again in 1975 after a brief divorce.
During her 1989 era, Swift also gave a subtle nod to Taylor’s aesthetic in her music video for “Wildest Dreams,” in which she dons the actress’ iconic sleek black hairstyle and—like Taylor and Burton who met while working on Cleopatra—falls in love with her costar on the set of an old Hollywood film.
And more recently, Swift expressed interest again in Taylor upon receiving a gift from pal Keleigh Teller for her 34th birthday back in 2023.
“This is unreal, Keleigh,” Swift gushed in an Instagram Story her pal shared at the time. “Opal and blue topaz. Wow. This is like a present for Elizabeth Taylor, not me.”
To which Keleigh sweetly responded, “You’re my Elizabeth Taylor.”
