I love my beauty sleep, especially if I can clock out around 9:45-10:00 pm and snore my way straight through to a solid eight. I don’t usually need anything beyond my super-soft jammies, squishy pillow, paperback book and furry tortie-cat Trixie, either. So the real reason I spritz This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray on my bedding every night before I crawl in is for its soothing aromatic scent.
Back in the day I used to spritz a little perfume on me and on the sheets. Sarah Jessica Parker’s Lovely, Bottega Veneta’s Essence Aromatique, Chanel’s La Pausa, Balenciaga’s L’Essence all made the cut at one point or another, along with too many others to name. Perfume, not PJs, was my jam, but ever since I’ve been sleeping alone (yes Mom, I’m still on Match), I’ve stopped channeling Marilyn and gone for a more practical, yet equally scented approach with Deep Sleep.
It’s blend of lavender, chamomile and vetiver essential oils are super relaxing and soothing, which makes me feel like they’re less judge-y of my singleness than my couture parfum bottles. And while I’m not adverse to chemicals or synthetic fragrances, this product has neither nor does it contain parabens, sulfates or phthalates so I tend to use a lot of it, sometimes even spritzing my entire bedroom to create an instant Zen haven. This works, too. Clearly the brand aptly named. Plus, Deep Sleep helps me exhale away all of the day’s stressors and breathe in all of its calm-inducing, peaceful goodness, so there’s that.
