5. Unwind before bed

Sleep helps us to maintain our overall sense of wellbeing both physically and mentally, so work on developing a bedtime unwinding routine in order to set the tone for a good night’s sleep. By creating a relaxing environment and peaceful state of mind, you’ll wake up refreshed and rested each morning. Some simple tips to get a good quality night of sleep include cutting out any screen time with your phone, television and tablet two hours before bedtime and especially once you are under the covers. Next, enlist in some activities that personally bring your stress and energy levels down whether its reading a book for a half hour in bed or taking a warm bath with soothing bath products. For my bath I love the Fresh Sugar Lychee Sugarbath Cubes ($45) as the cubes are enriched with brown sugar, a bicarbonate of soda and a luxurious oil to give smooth as silk skin all over. Or, if you want a bath that harnesses the powers of aromatherapy try Lotus Aroma Eucalyptus Foaming Bath ($18, pharmacies and health food stores). On nights when you are feeling especially worked up, take advantage of a white noise app. Download the app called Sleepmaker Rain on your iPhone and the hypnotic sounds of rain will soothe you to sleep.
