Zoe Saldana added another trophy to her collection on Sunday, February 23, 2025 when she won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role award for portraying Rita Mora Castro in Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez. Saldana turned heads by wearing a custom one-sleeve creation, courtesy of Saint Laurent by Anthony Vacarello.
Saldana’s black body-hugging velvet gown featured a crystal-laden ruffle detail at the shoulder for added drama, which she complimented with diamond jewellery from Cartier that included a chainmail-like bracelet and matching drop earrings. Celebrity stylist Petra Flannery curated her look.
Other actresses nominated for the 2025 SAG Award include Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown), Jamie Lee Curtis (The Last Showgirl), Danielle Deadwyler (The Piano Lesson) and Ariana Grande (Wicked).
Accepting the accolade, Saldana said, “To be in this room is a true honour. This is my community, this is my circus…. Thank you to SAG-AFTRA. I got my first SAG card in 1998. I didn’t even know what SAG was.”
Thanking her fellow nominees, Saldana said, “It was an honour to watch your performances this year, I was deeply moved.”
Saldana has definitely made sleek red carpet dressing her signature throughout this awards show season by opting for striking gowns with unexpected details. Next week, Saldana will end her awards season at the Oscars, where she is up for Best Supporting Actress. She is considered a frontrunner in the category.
As for what she will be wearing when she walks the red carpet at the upcoming 97th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2, 2025… expect to see Saldana wear Saint Laurent once again. Saint Laurent has not only been outfitting the actress throughout her entire Emilia Pérez press tour, the luxury label also provided many of the film’s costumes from creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s archives.
