Danny, 24: Danny and his boyfriend met on Tumblr and have been long-distance dating for four years

Describe the long-distance situation

It sucks for obvious reasons sometimes, not being able to see him as often as I’d like. But it’s something we’ve learned from. If you’re in a relationship with someone you have to make things work regardless of distance. It’s taught me to really appreciate the physical presence another human being.

Have you always been certain in your relationship? Why?

Our relationship is so different from others I’ve seen. It’s a combination of a natural connection and us both putting in the effort. Not having him in my life would be so¦ not right. I just feel right about a lot of things when we’re together. Even when we’re apart, it just seems like I’m doing something right.

What’s your advice for people looking for or currently in relationships?

Talk it out. Most issues stem from miscommunication. But know not to force it. If someone wants to be with you, they will show you. Whether it’s by making time for you or giving you the attention you deserve, not crave, because there’s a difference. A lot of people enter relationships because they crave attention and that’s a one-way ticket to failure. When you’re in a relationship with someone, you’re in a relationship with yourself too, expect to learn and grow from it.
