Last night Luminato kicked off with an epic opening party at The Hearn Generating Station “ one of Toronto’s most unique industrial sites that has been transformed into a wonderland of fashion, art and culture. The city’s tastemakers were out to experience the unbelievable space and toast to the 10-day arts festival. As we walked through the rugged space we couldn’t help but be amazed by the beautiful and interesting exhibits that surprise you around every turn. It was impossible to stop ourselves from Snapchatting and photographing every moment inside the incredible venue.
One of the most anticipated exhibitions during this year’s Luminato Festival is monumental, an explosion of contemporary dance and post-rock music, which is sponsored by glacé©au smartwater and takes place June 14 and 15 at 8pm. Nine dancers from The Holy Body Tattoo balance on top of illuminated pedestals that resemble a miniature city, working their bodies to their absolute limits. A projected backdrop evokes a gritty urban vision, enhanced by the raw, soaring space of the Hearn. All while Montreal’s post-rock legends Godspeed You! Black Emperor perform live music. It is a must-see performed you can’t miss!
In addition to monumental, on June 14 smartwater has also set up their cloud 6ix lounge where attendees can hang out and feel like there are floating above the city! Grab your friends and enjoy an experience is truly like no other.
monumental will be performed on the Hearn Music Stage for two nights only, June 14 to 15, at 8 p.m. Tickets available from $29. For more information or to buy tickets visit www.luminatofestival.com.
