Our Friends Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Have Broken Up

This week, am I right? I mean, not for us. We’re fine. We’re doing our best and it’s Friday and you know, I think I might bag off work a little early today to head to this museum in Guelph that has a Titanic survivor’s clothes on display. (If you think I’m joking, obviously you’ve never talked to me at length about Titanic, so how dare you.)

But not everything’s going smoothly. On top of Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris calling it quits, our best friends Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have also reportedly ended things, making PILLOWTALK seem like a glimpse into their actual relationship. (See: no relationship ever should consist only of fucking and fighting, I’m sorry.)

According to E! — who broke the story — Gigi and Taylor are “confiding in each other,” which I guess makes sense because it’s their ever-expanding #squad world, and we’re just living in/trying not to be crushed by it.

But here’s a little background info (also according to E!): a source says Gigi and Zayn’s relationship had some rough patches, and they still might get back together.

“During her birthday they were fighting,” said one source.

And another: “Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow. It’s all very unclear what’s going on between them now. They’ve been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along.”

“Gigi is really sad about this, though, and in a way would like it work it out,” they added. “It’s more about constant contact with Zayn that she misses and they did get very close.”

Which sucks. But also: good lord, they’re young. They’re so young! They’re babies! Even if they are meant to be, they need about five years off in their mid-2os to figure out who they are and who they want to be. But now? No. Everyone go home and spend some time figuring out the ins and outs of adulthood, and then realize that “communication and getting along” is key in friendship, let alone in relationships. Plus, “constant contact” is a little much, so maybe hop in the car (alone) and go for a drive and maybe move to a new city and start anew.  (Assuming Gigi and Zayn are reading this, which I assume they are.)

Or, just pat yourselves on the back because this was a very cute pop culture moment and you guys did your best and you’re learning and oh my lord, I feel like your mum, so please call me if you need something I am here for you.
