After marathoning the latest season of Catastrophe last night, I spent 45 minutes sobbing over the fact they’ll be no new Riverdale this week. “There are no good TV shows to watch!” I said, lying, in this fictional moment I am writing about. “What is even the point?”
Well guess what, friends: Yolanda Hadid — Bella and Gigi’s mom — is coming to Lifetime in the upcoming unscripted series, Model Moms.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the series will revolve around Hadid coaching aspiring teen models. She and her team of experts will put the models through an eight-week training program which will focus on physical, mental, and emotional wellness, since you need all three to “build a brand.”
The models will also be competing for a $5000 weekly prize to put towards their modelling careers, while the last model standing will win a management contract with Yolanda’s company and the possibility of being represented by IMG. (Which, as we all know, represents the whole Hadid clan.)
So far there is no premiere date but I promise to shout it from the hills as soon as I hear it because America’s Next Top Model just isn’t the same anymore, and no TV nights mattered as much as the Wednesday evenings in 2005 and 2006 I spent with my best friends eating frozen yogurt and yelling at Jade through the television set. Also, I am clearly pining for my carefree youth — at least in terms of TV shows.
In the meantime, you can catch Gigi Hadid’s latest Vogue spread alongside the up-and-comers of Broadway, which was shot by Patrick Demarchelier which I hope you just read in Meryl Streep’s voice or Emily Blunt’s accent.
