Most women would hit the Ben and Jerry’s aisle of every grocery store after a divorce “ let alone a third divorce “ but not Jennifer Lopez. In the wake of her failed marriage to Marc Anthony, Lopez decided to grace the covers of Vanity Fair in their September 2011 issue to discuss the split. Not only is she a cover girl for the zillionth time, she’s also featured in a fairly risqué© spread “ really showing everyone what they’re missing.
In the interview, Lopez explains three very important things: She and Marc never wanted a divorce, it’s sad that their marriage ended that way, and she hopes to find love again someday.
Some celebrities might stoop to bashing their exes once they become exes, but not Lopez.
I will always respect Marc as a singer and performers, she says. We actually work great together, and he was always very supportive. Together we could make magic “ and we did. He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children.
It may sound like a very carefully constructed answer, but coming from J.Lo, there’s just something that makes us want to believe her.
As for the reason behind the divorce? It stemmed down to their marriage fizzling out. One day, Lopez woke up and realized it was time for a change.
It’s not that I didn’t love myself before. Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself “ if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now, said Lopez.
All the power to her!
Now don’t think this third divorce, announced in a joint statement on July 15, has Lopez giving up on love “ far from it actually. Although J.Lo admits the divorce was one of the toughest moments she’s ever had to face, the hopeless romantic is still looking forward to the next chapter in her life.
I really wanted this family to work. That was my biggest dream, and I worked hard at it. We both did. Sometimes it doesn’t work “ and that’s sad. But I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love¦it’s still my biggest dream.
She even speaks in lyrics! We hope Lopez’s next adventure in love is a little more successful.
The September issue of Vanity Fair hits newsstands in New York and L.A. on August 3rd and across North America early next week.
