All eyes have been on The Hunger Games since the film’s premiere earlier this spring, so the natural question on everyone’s mind is what’s next.
The answer: Francis Lawrence, who will direct The Hunger Games’ sequel, Catching Fire.
Although not officially signed on, studio sources say they were preparing to make an offer late last night.
Evidently, Francis Lawrence should be a great choice for The Hunger Games franchise. The director of Water For Elephants and I Am Legend, the combination of romance and action are by no means foreign to him, and explain why he’s reportedly beat out director Bennett Miller (director of Moneyball).
Replacing The Hunger Games’ existing director Gary Ross, Francis Lawrence has his work cut out for him: considering The Hunger Games is the movie of 2012, the 55-year-old director has quite a storyline to help develop.
