Hillary Rodham Clinton is one strong, powerful woman, so if an actress were to play her in a biopic, she'd have to be like …Scarlett Johansson? According to The Independent, potentially.
The paper reports that the actress is the frontrunner for the upcoming Rodham, a movie about the former US First Lady and Secretary of State. The paper, however, also reports Reese Witherspoon and Amanda Seyfried are also up for the role, which will revolve around the 26-year-old Clinton during her days as a Washington lawyer, and will be directed by James Ponsoldt.
But this is more than just an "allegedly" — Ponsoldt actually spoke to The Independent himself.
"They're all wonderful actresses," he said. "We're very fortunate that a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles. We're in an enviable position."
"Regardless of people's political affiliation or how they feel about Hillary Clinton, you don't find people who question the quality of her intelligence or her drive," he continued. "I want a wonderful actress who could embody that."
So do you think Scarlett Johansson can or does embody that? And what about Seyfried or Witherspoon? Talk amongst yourselves, and let's discuss.
