With a teen sensation as wildly popular as Hannah Montana, there are bound to be a few haters “ especially in the older crowd tagalongs. We just didn’t expect a cast member to be one of them.
Billy Ray Cyrus is blaming Hannah Montana for the problems plaguing his family, particularly Miley’s recent wild behaviour.
I’ll tell you right now “ the damn show destroyed my family, Cyrus told eonline.com. For my family to be here and just be everybody OK, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I’d erase it all in a second if I could.
Even though Cyrus admitted his problem was trying too hard to be a friend to Miley instead of a parent, he blames the show for driving a wedge between us.
Cyrus said his presence with Miley through the show made him look compliant in all of the scandals she’s been involved in. Even though he said he was purposely kept in the dark about incidents like Miley’s smoking salvia, Cyrus said he often took the brunt of Miley’s behaviour.
All those people around, they used me every time. It became so obvious that, man, no matter what happens, they’re going to put you up there and let you take the bullet, Cyrus said of Miley’s people. I feel like I got to try. It’s my daughter. And some of these handlers are perhaps more interested in handling her money than her safety and her career.
In the meantime, Cyrus has been steering clear of Miley and her handlers. He said he hasn’t spoken to Miley since the salvia video leaked and even skipped her 18th birthday because it was being held at a bar (by law, for people 21 and over).
Cyrus compared Miley to Kurt Cobain, Anna Nicole Smith and Michael Jackson during his interview.
There’s a trainwreck happening and my daughter’s right in the middle of it, Cyrus said. I’m scared for her. She’s got a lot of people around her that’s putting her in a great deal of danger. I know she’s 18, but I still feel like as her daddy I’d like to try to help.
