If you’re still mourning the loss of It’s On With Alexa Chung, it’s time to wipe those tears and embrace some good news: the British TV presenter and model is gearing up to host 24-Hour Catwalk, a new program currently in development in the US.
Following a format in the spirit of Project Catwalk and The Rachel Zoe Project, designers will compete against each other for runway challenges, and while this obviously sounds very in-step with the current reality fashion TV model, no doubt that adding a touch of Chung will make it a little more interesting than learning to Smize for the millionth time. (Or so we hope.)
Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming at Lifetime (the network producing the show) told WWD, “The thing that is happening now in fashion culture is that every character and subset of skill is being explored, and there is going to be great shows coming out of that.”
Not that we’re going to raise our eyebrows in response while impatiently tapping our toes for the allegedly upcoming PBS Chung-based series, Thrifting Across America (the IMDB page isn’t super optimistic), but we will say that watching the ultimate thrifter go thrifting could also easily be described as a “great show”.
Here’s hoping both shows make it to the fall programming list soon – or at least in time to justify cocooning with snacks come those cold winter nights.
