8 MTV VMA 2016 Hits, Misses and Disses

In case you were busy enjoying the second last weekend of summer and missed the 2016 MTV VMAs, they were definitely on last night. And while we're maybe into the music for the music, it was still an important night, even if Taylor Swift wasn't there to overtake them. The red carpet was a smash, the performances were lit and there were some interesting moments, so let's relive them over our coffee, shall we?

Hit/Miss: Alessia Cara is the most understated, underrated performer, ever

Alessia Cara’s performance was fucking flawless, but she also got a completely different platform to perform than the likes of Rihanna, Britney, Beyonceé© and Ariana. While she may not be on that pop star level (thank goodness for that, there’s a time and a place for that and I really want Alessia to stay as cool as she is), it felt like maybe the producers of the show didn’t have the same faith in her abilities to keep the crowd inside as captivated.
