8 MTV VMA 2016 Hits, Misses and Disses

In case you were busy enjoying the second last weekend of summer and missed the 2016 MTV VMAs, they were definitely on last night. And while we're maybe into the music for the music, it was still an important night, even if Taylor Swift wasn't there to overtake them. The red carpet was a smash, the performances were lit and there were some interesting moments, so let's relive them over our coffee, shall we?

Diss: Rihanna didn’t kiss Drake on stage

Okay, I’m not going to start fuelling any sort of rumour mill here because Drake and Rihanna are FINE, but it was a bold move avoiding Drake’s kiss on stage. Drake presented Rihanna with the Vanguard Award and while he gushed over her for a few minutes and said things like “I’ve been in love with her since I was 22 years old” (he loves a strong woman, ya know), when he went to give her a congratulatory kiss, she turned her head. Maybe a diss, maybe just putting him in his place. It wasn’t his night, it wasn’t his moment and it’s as simple as that. She recovers by giving him a good smooch after her acceptance speech, but after she’s had her moment, natch.
