Fact is, I wear waaay too much sunscreen to ever really get a natural sun-induced glow. One time in Vegas, my sisters and mom actually threatened to not sit with me by the pool if I kept reapplying my sunblock. They had a point. My face was iridescent white. I’m not bemoaning my dedication to SPF 45+, but it would be nice to look anything but pasty white once in a while.
Sure, self-tanners and bronzers take up premium space on my bathroom counter, but lately so does Dior’s Backstage Glow Glitz Face Palette.
It’s more customizable than a regular bronzer, even those with multiple hues and it has more oomph than your average highlighter so I’m clearly loving its range. The palette’s four shades, Gold, Pearly White with Maxi Glitter, Bronze with Holographic accents and Shimmering Peach can be blended too. So depending on my mood or my outfit, I can mix and match what I want to wear on my eyes and cheeks and if it’s a really good day (meaning I put more than five minutes into my makeup routine), I’ll swipe on the Pearly White hue as a highlighter on my cheekbones, nose and temples.
Recently, I threw it in my carry-on bag before boarding a plane to Texas. Along with a tube of mascara, tinted lip balm and some CC cream, it was the only makeup I needed. I can’t remember the last time I said that. And it wears beautifully over my thick layer of sunscreen. Just saying.
Dior Backstage Glow Glitz Face Palette, $55, exclusively available at Sephora stores and at Dior counters.
