Here at 29Secrets, we talk a lot about skincare and all the latest innovations that make our hearts swell. We outline the benefits of using an SPF on a daily basis and the missing link in your makeup routine, and while we’re sure we mention that it’s important to swap your skincare products with the seasons, we may not always show that we do it, too. Being amongst all of the latest beauty products of course has its perks, but often what happens is some of us (me, always me) end up reaching for the coolest new cleanser, mask or moisturizer, even if it doesn’t work for our skin type. I’ve been told by skincare experts and makeup artists on countless occasions that my skin is severely dehydrated because I use whatever new product is on my shelf instead of finding a routine that works for me.
Until now.
While we’re always excited to bring you the latest information on what’s new to the beauty market, we’d be remiss if we didn’t practice what we preach. So, for the first time in a long time, I’m using a skincare routine designed for me and my skin (and you should totally do the same).
Beauty confession: While I’ve finally adopted the practice of washing off my makeup every single night (okay, so sometimes I just use the Garnier Skin+ Soothing Remover Cleansing Towelettes stashed in my nightstand), I have a hard time getting all of it off.
When I get ready to take off my makeup, I always start with a micellar water. I’ve been a devout micellar follower for years and when the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water landed on my desk earlier this year, I was all over it. After I remove my eye makeup, I wash my face with the Garnier Clean+ Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser and if I see any residual makeup on my towel, I’ll give my face another quick swipe with the Micellar Water.
Once a week, I treat my skin real nice. While my face is still wet from cleansing, I gently scrub my skin using the Clean+ Balancing Gel Exfoliator, followed by the Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Deeply Hydrating Brightening Tissue Mask to soothe and nourish my skin while evening out my complexion.
After my face is nice and clean, if I’m heading to bed I’ll pop on some of the Garnier SkinActive Ultra-Lift Miracle Sleeping Cream before and if I’m getting my day started, I’ll use the SkinActive Moisture Rescue Actively Hydrating Daily Lotion SPF 15 before applying my makeup.
It always takes my skin a bit to adjust to a new routine, but at least I know I’m using the right products for my skin type. I guess now I have no excuse to go to bed with makeup on.
