It’s no surprise that we’re huge Bachelor devotees at 29Secrets, so when we got the opportunity to sit down with former Bachelor contestant and Bachelorette frontrunner Kaitlyn Bristowe, we didn’t walk, we ran. Now spending her days in Nashville with her gorgeous fiancé© Shawn Booth, we caught up with her at the TRESemmé© Volume Revolution event, where it seemed that Bristowe was in her element, chatting about the volume her hair (and mine) is seriously lacking and how it can bounce back with the Beauty-Full Volume collection.
You traveled a lot for the show, how did you keep your hair looking so great when you don’t have a lot of room in your suitcase?
I had the option of a hairstylist and I chose to do my hair myself because I’m very particular and very picky. As long as I have anything that volumizes my hair, I’m happy. I have such flat hair. I have flat hair, I have fine hair, so I use anything that I can find”and a curling iron”I wish TRESemmé© had introduced this while I was on the show.
How do you and Shawn make it work?
We don’t want to seem like the perfect couple, but we’re actually so happy, but it is hard. We spend every day together so this is like the longest week that we’ve been apart”even our business is kind of together because people want to see us together. I think a lot of times we really need to do what we can on our own time and really stay grounded and not get caught up in everything that comes along with the show. We don’t want to take just any opportunity that comes our way. We want to stick to what means something to us. So, hair and volume”it’s easy to stand by this. For Shawn, it’s fitness. We try to have our individual things as well, as well as making it work as a couple.
Are you guys planning the wedding?
We are. Not in any way that we’re saying This is our date, but it’s more that we will come to a conclusion of a date soon. We look at things, we bounce ideas off each other, but nothing’s set in stone.
What sort of style do you want for the wedding?
Shawn always laughs at me because I’ll say bohemian and he’ll say, Do you even know what that means? And I have to say, no, I don’t. I love romantic. I want my bridesmaids and maid of honour in white. I want everyone at the wedding to wear either black or white, but other than that I have no idea.
What was your favourite beauty look from the show?
I am a little bit edgy, so it’s hard for me to wear those glamorous dresses and heels everyday, so I always try and throw a bit of edge in my style. So if I wore this beautiful dress, I would tie one side of my hair back because I always wanted to stay true to my look as well. I don’t wear dresses very often, but it was fun wearing the dresses. I thought I would hate it and I was going to say No, I’m not going to be down for this, you’re going to fight to get me into this dress, but it was fun. It was nice to be able to somewhat put my style into it”even if it was just throwing one side of my hair back.
What was your biggest WTF moment from the show?
I honestly think that they downplayed my WTF moment. It was about”do you remember Tony the Healer?
How could we forget?
He was actually more odd than they showed. He would sit there and would tell me that he loved peace and love and meditation and then he’d snap on me and yell at me and talk about how he has a kill house in his hometown.
What?! Was he confessing something to you?
Yes! Everyone would look around and be like, Uhhh¦ Is this legal? It was funny, but kind of scary at the same time.
Any lessons that you learned from being on the show?
Don’t ever date more than one guy at a time. It’ll get you in trouble.
How did you handle dating more than one guy?
I don’t know how I did it or if I did it well. It was so difficult to compartmentalize how I felt with each person”like this person is really serious and sincere and this person is really goofy. I had to mould to each person to see how I fit with them, but I think it’s one of those moments where it’s an out-of-body experience. I’m looking back at it and thinking how did I do that because I don’t really remember it”I just did it at the time because I had to.

Long or short hair?
Right now, short.
Bachelor Pad or Bachelor in Paradise?
Bachelor Pad”they had competitions and skill requirements and now it’s just kind of a mess.
Trump or Trudeau?
I have to say Trudeau because Trump is a mess.
Ryan Gosling or Calvin Harris?
Ryan Gosling, but I don’t think Shawn looks like him at all”he’s better looking than Ryan Gosling.
