I don’t know about you guys, but I am over 2015 and am 100% ready to embark on the majesty of 2016 and the promise of, say, Beyonce’s new line with Topshop.
You read that correctly, my children.
According to Sugarscape, Beyonce’s “sportswear inspired” collection with the British retailer is set to hit shelves in April of next year, and actually won’t be a “Beyonce x Topshop” situation — it’s going to spawn its own company. (As one would expect.) Enter: Parkwood Topshop.
“I could not think of a better partner as I continue to grow the Parkwood business,” Queen Bey said in a statement. “I have always loved Topshop for its fashion credentials and forward thinking. Working with its development team to create and produce a technical and fashion-led collection is exciting, and I’m looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership.”
And so are we, Beyonce. AND SO ARE WE.
Sir Phillip Green is equally so, having described the line as one targeted to “women who go to yoga or the health club, as well as those [who] just want to look like they do.” (So, like, me I guess?)
“We’ve been looking at this category as fashion-inspired fitness develops, and know this is right in our customers’ heartland. Creating a partnership with Beyonce, one of the most hard-working and talented people in the world, who spends many hours of her life dancing, rehearsing, and training is a unique opportunity to develop this category.”
Which is absolutely correct. She does indeed do all of those things. And this is just one of the million or so reasons why Beyonce collaborating with Topshop makes sense. I, on the flip side, spend zero hours of my life rehearsing and training, but at my friend’s wedding this past summer, I danced super hard to “Countdown” by Beyonce, making me 100% sure this collaboration came into fruition entirely because of me.
So yes everybody, you’re welcome. (See you in April, and please don’t riot like you did for H&M Balmain.)
