Well, it’s official: Hilary Duff is now a Mrs. (Meaning? We’re now all officially “old”.) In an intimate ceremony near the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California Saturday, the former teen star married her hockey player boyfriend, Mike Comrie, and wore a strapless Vera Wang dress to commemorate the occasion. (Because anything worth doing is worth doing right.)
With her sister, Haylie, by her side as the maid of honour, the now-Mrs. Comrie walked up a candlelit aisle adorned with white rose petals, thus winning the praise of attendees who gushed things like: “it was one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen. Absolutely stunning. They thought of every last detail and it was an incredible sight.” (Well I should hope so. After all, when it comes to multi-million dollar industry heavyweights, you’d think that guests would be in for a memorable evening to say the least.)
But nonetheless, a congratulations is in order. Not just for the wedding, but for the fact that unlike the countless other former child stars who’ve gone down the road of sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll (but often without the latter), Hilary Duff has embraced a life of simultaneous success and normalcy. But let’s not lie: regardless of the lack of personal drama, watching Ms. Duff walk down the aisle at such a young age brings about the same feelings as realizing a person you once babysat now owns the restaurant you frequent most.
