I just spent a week in Mexico and didn’t blowdry my hair once. Not new behaviour, I do this all the time in Toronto in the summer. The humidity puts a wavy curl in my long layers and I like the natural look. Now, Puerta Vallarta leans more dry than humid, so I added a quarter-size dollop of Joico’s Zero Heat for Fine/Medium hair styling cream to my damp ends and scrunched it in from the tips upwards to give it some extra oomph and bring out my loose waves.
My hair was definitely less fuzzy looking once it dried and it wasn’t sticky or crunchy at all, so I could easily run my hands through it. I’ll chalk that one up to the product’s infusion of rosehip oil. It’s loaded with anti-oxidants, vitamins and omega acids so it easily absorbed into my hair without making it look greasy. Plus, the cream’s formula contains flexible polymers that helped bring out my wavy texture, which can be a bit reluctant in drier climates.
It was also pretty great to be so low maintenance and yet not look like the complete beach bum part. Despite the fact that for 99 per cent of my vacation I had a sarong tied around my waist, flip flops on my feet, a stack of books in my beach bag and an icy margarita in my hand. Oh and if you’re a thick-haired gal, don’t be jealous. Joico has a Zero Heat for Thick Hair styling cream to control your hair’s volume and frizz, too.
