Five Mistletoe-Worthy Lip Balms

’Tis the season to get lippy beneath the mistletoe and we all know that requires a little extra TLC. So we’ve round-up the best balms to hydrate, nourish, smooth and even plump up your pout—all to create some holiday magic.

Glossier Balm Dotcom
The cult-favoured multi-purpose balm really does come in a tube for every mood as stated on Emily Weiss’ brainchild website. And we wouldn’t judge if you bought all six—Original, Mint, Coconut, Birthday (with subtle shimmer), Rose ( a barely-there pink) and Cherry (a sheer red tint)—since each one is packed with natural emollients like beeswax and castor seed oil.
$15 each, available online at www.glossier.com

Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm
Who wouldn’t want to cozy up to you when you’re wearing this honey scented and subtly grapefruit tasting balm. Intensely hydrating, even on the most chapped lips, this balm’s formulation is 80 per cent natural, complete with honey, sunflower, musk rose, almond oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence and not a paraben in sight.
$17, available at Shoppers Drug Mart

Rosebud Perfume Co. Smith’s Rosebud Salve
Easy to apply in it’s tin and tube packaging, this long-time balm has well-earned cult status thanks to it’s fast-acting healing. It’s also super versatile so feel free to ease the sting of mild burns and rub it on your elbows, cuticles, knees and other dry bits. It’s also great on diaper rash because, hey, you never know where that mistletoe kiss will lead you. Just saying.
$8, available at Sephora

Elizabeth Arden Nourishing Lip Balm SPF 20
Yes, it’s enriched with eight vitamins, minerals and nutrients and sure, contains a special softening formula of petroleum. Shea butter and BR forest. But what we really love about this unscented, slightly shine-inducing tube of balm is that it delivers SPF 20 UVA (think aging) and UVB (think burning) broad spectrum sun protection.
$26, available at Hudson’s Bay

Maybelline Baby Lips
Admit it, this product is worth it just for the name alone! But it’s eight-hour hydration, sheer “Quench” no-colour colour and visible moisturizing impact after just one week of wear will keep you coming back for more. Play your lip balm cards right and maybe your mistletoe guy will have a similar response.
$5.29, available online at www.well.ca
