Although there are lots of movies made about horrible female relationships and how catty women can be towards one another (Mean Girls!), let’s face: our lady friends are uber important in our lives.
Our gal pals make us laugh, get us through tough times and help us become the best women we can be (and help us ditch those other friendships that are toxic).
We salute these famous gal pals for showing the world that women really can be friends:
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
These two are flawless, seriously. They’re hilarious, they can host awards shows with grace and tease even the most famous, stuffy guests and get exactly the reaction they want from them. They’re intelligent, sensitive and they can charm everyone. Tina and Amy have been friends for 20 years; they first met at an improv comedy class in Chicago. Thank goodness for that class, or the world would be a much sadder place! They’ve worked on Saturday Night Live together, know each others’ kids and families like their own and love nothing more than to have a good laugh together.
Candace Cameron and Andrea Barber
Remember the ups and downs of DJ Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler’s friendship on Full House? Of course you do. Here’s what’s going to surprise you, though: the actresses are still BFFs. Mind blown, right? They still hang out all the time! They run together, hang out with friends, go out for dinner and take selfies, just like we do with our gal pals. Cute!
Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox
Another duo who played best friends on TV and became best friends in real life, this Friends pair is totally sweet. They take vacations in Mexico together, go out for dinner together and just generally hang out with one another. They’re so comfortable with each other, you’d think they actually did live in the same apartment. Oh, to have Friends back on the air!
Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King
What’s a best friend for other than road trips? If you’re going to be stuck in a car for long hours with one person, you’d better get along. Many episodes of Oprah’s show focused on these two and their trips and adventures and Gayle is obviously a trusted resource and confidant for Oprah. She actually seems to relax her and make her more of a real person – go figure! It’s nice to think our best friends can bring that out in us. Plus, the pair worked together for years and years and still they never tired of one another.
Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland
Just a couple of weeks ago, Queen Bey and her BFF Kelly (who go way back to Destiny’s Child, of course) dropped in on some girls singing a Beyonce song in a karaoke bar. They joined the girls’ party, snapped a bunch of photos and it looks like they had a great time. They even posed around the unfortunate girl who was passed out on the bench and missed the whole thing… need we say more? We’d totally hang out with these two (but maybe we’d pass on the girls who didn’t even wake up their friend when Beyonce and Kelly joined the party!)
