You didn’t expect the biggest star on the planet to get married at Madison Square Gardens and the wedding not be a show, did you?
That’s exactly what seems went down on July 3rd in New York City at Madison Square Garden with the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. At this point, we’re not only waiting for a drop of wedding photos to see the bride and groom’s custom Dior wedding ‘fits and Louboutin shoes, but the announcement of a release date for the documentary streaming special or big screen release.
After all, the Swift-Kelce ‘I dos’ have been dubbed America’s royal wedding since T&T were engaged last summer. We all know that actual royal weddings are real-time televised events that draw millions of viewers globally, but to date, no other celebrity has ever publicly shared their wedding day like this. Swift likes to break barriers, and most importantly share her story on her own terms. Being a queen of performance art and meticulously career curation, it only makes sense that Swift would share her bridal era on a massive scale. There are so many easter eggs pointing to this reality which we’ve learned in the days since the wedding from some of the couple’s 1,000 glittering guests.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the wedding venue was reportedly surrounded by signs indicating a film shoot. We know that AMC Theatre CEO Adam Aron, who has worked with Swift in the past on the release of her concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was in attendance and he was one of the first guests to share his thoughts about the mega-party via a now deleted Threads post and he very much described the production as an entertainment event, not just a wedding.
“Immediately upon entry, everything… floors, walls, ceilings… was draped in peach and white,” Aron wrote. “Large blown-up pictures of Taylor and Travis at each age, year by year from one year-old to late teenager-hood, were on display,” “A small portion of MSG was cordoned off, devoid of any notion that that a basketball or hockey game ever shared that space. Somehow magically, someone created an outdoor garden at a lush countryside retreat. Everything draped off this time in green and white. Real flowers and I think artificial trees welcomed fifteen rows of maybe 75 or so chairs. They say there were around one thousand attendees, but surprisingly, it all felt intimate and small. Everything was close.”
The Daily Mail had an exclusive leaked look inside the event confirming what Aron had shared and things very much looked like a movie set. The fact Kelce’s mom Donna was interviewed the day after her son’s wedding and could barely speak about it also points to the fact something major is in the works. “I really can’t say a heck of a lot except it was magical, man, magical,” she said in an Instagram post from Macy’s—she was attending the department store’s Fourth of July Celebration in New York.
We know Swift likes to tell her own story and completely own her narrative so this all feels totally on brand. We also know Swifties are hungry for a front row seat to her dream day, and this is a very Taylor way to do it.
No doubt all will be revealed soon, but while we wait, here are some other details we know about the T&T wedding.
It was a double Dior fashion event
As confirmed by a press release just after making it official, Swift and Kelce both wore Dior Haute Couture for their wedding ceremony looks. “They are designed by Jonathon Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections, in close collaboration with the Bride and Groom,” reads the statement. “This is the designer’s first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity.” The statement went on to share the couple also both wore custom Christian Louboutin shoes, and Swift wore Cartier jewels.
The vows were hyper-personal
According to wedding guests who spoke to NBC News, the couple personally wrote their own vows, and Swift’s featured a bit of her singing. “You would think the bride would be the one crying more, but it was actually Travis that was more emotional,” one of the attendees said.
The guest list was lit
The list of celebrity attendees was Oscar worthy. There were the expected big names like Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, Jack Antonoff, and Karlie Kloss. But there were also many, many many more and major players attending including Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Graham Norton, Jennifer Lopez, Benson Boone, Bowen yang, Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke, Camila Cabello, Gracie Abrams, and Miranda Lambert. The wedding ceremony was also officiated by a famous friend, Adam Sandler.
There were a few iconic performances
Paul McCartney and Steve Nicks were the headliners, and reportedly Swift took the stage too but for the rehearsal dinner the night before. It’s been confirmed by sources that Sir Paul performed the Beatles No. 1 hit “I Want to Hold Your Hand” for the first time in 60 years.
The couple showered their guests with luxury gifts
Swift and Kelce reportedly specified no gifts for their wedding In advance of their ‘I dos’ the couple donated $26 million dollars to 20 named charities of importance to them across the United States. On the day, they also gifted their wedding guests with gifts including Cartier watches and a vintage 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, which was the car they rode in together on their first date, which was part of a wedding raffle. Wonder who ended up taking that home?!
