Hey! Here is a thing that’s completely removed from the disaster of the last few days: Frané§ois Nars–of NARS Cosmetics–has been presented with the Chevalier dans l’Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur, which translates to Knight in the National Order of the Legion of Honour.
The ceremony took place last night at the Payne Whitney Mansion in New York, which is home to the Cultural Services of the French Embassy. And the honour was established by Napoleon Bonaparte (maybe you’ve heard of him) in 1802 to recognize prominent figures–both French and not–for their laudible actions towards France.
So enter: Frané§ois, whose work has obviously made an impact.
“I am incredibly humbled and proud of this prestigious award,” he said in a statement. “It is one of the greatest moments of my career. France is my homeland and will always have a special place in my heart. I am truly honoured.”
So is the rest of the NARS squad.
“It’s an honour and privilege to see Frané§ois receive the Legion d’Honneur award,” said Barbara Calcagni, President of NARS Cosmetics. “He believes in unconventional beauty and has dedicated his life to helping women break boundaries when it comes to makeup, and this award is a testament to that.”
So look! A nice thing! A small, nice thing, but a nice thing nonetheless. Take care of yourselves this weekend, guys. We continue the good fight next week.
