With the change in seasons, my shower routine is now up to 15 to 20 minutes. I know, that seems like a lot of water time, but let me explain why it’s necessary. One, I’m taking more hot, oil-infused baths (think eucalyptus to stave off colds, lavender to induce sleepy relaxation, peppermint to invigorate my mind), at night to soak away the cool weather chills and two, because I’m showering every other day to prevent dry skin. The only catch is that I still want to be clean, squeaky clean. And after lots of trial and error, I’ve found that Sade Baron’s Blue Lemonade bar soap is the one my body likes the best as it doesn’t strip my skin of natural oils and into crocodile dryness, even when every other day of bathroom time turns into every third day…or longer.
Courtesy of its infusion of blue clay, this little bar of sudsy goodness gets aggressive with dirt, grime, pollution and sweat, rinsing away everything I don’t want lingering on my skin no matter how long it has been since I last stood under the rainfall of water in my shower. Plus, it gently hydrates and oxygenates my skin to restore vitality. The bar also contains rice bran oil, Omega 6 fatty acids and Vitamin E to deeply penetrate my body’s pores, leaving it younger looking and smoother to the touch. Sounds pretty good right? Well that’s not all.
Superfats like sweet almond and coconut oils condition, moisturize and provide anti-aging and anti-bacterial properties too, to make sure that my body is hydrated, youthful and devoid of germs. Camellia oil works overtime to allow each suds to absorb quickly and promote cellular growth, while adding an extra layer of softness. And while I tend to be the scent queen, opting for more fragrance than most people, this bar only leaves a hint of its energizing blend of lemon and geranium on my skin, making it easy for me to spritz as much perfume on as I want to once I’ve dried and dressed.
The only ingredients it doesn’t include are silicones, mineral and palm oils, parabens, polyethylene, sulfates, alcohol, phthalates, synthetic dyes or fragrances. It’s gluten-free, too and there are no animal by-products, making it vegan and safe to use by everyone who showers in your bathroom. Right now that’s just me, but I’m happy with that. I’m also thrilled that after each use, I know I’ve got at least another 90-plus washes since it doesn’t quickly dwindle away into nothingness like so many other bars do.
Sade Baron’s Blue Lemonade bar soap is $14, available at online at www.sadebaron.com.
