Reparative. Hydrating. Smoothing. Goddessifying. All valid words (well, maybe not the last one since we made it up), especially when attributed to hair care. As are the words silkening and strengthening, which are clearly written on Melanin Haircare’s Plumping Deep Conditioner’s container. Because that’s exactly what this must-have product does.
The latest in co-founding sisters Whitney and Taffeta White’s award-winning line-up of haircare is finally available—complete with Melanin’s four other haircare products and bevy of great headwraps, nylon caps and more—in Canada. Coveted by Canucks since it’s 2015 launch in the U.S., the black-owned brand is renowned for its does-what-it-says-it-will-do shampoo, oil, leave-in conditioner and styling cream, as each one is infused with quality ingredients. And this newbie conditioner is no exception.
Moisture-rich, the reparative deep conditioner works as equally well on its own as a deep conditioning mask treatment (we like to leave it on our hair for five minutes once a week before rinsing), as it does as a daily hair conditioner post shampoo. With its infusion of hyaluronic acid, hair retains its natural moisture and looks and feels less frizzy—always a good thing. Additionally, its blend of biotin, fenugreek and bamboo combine to strengthen, smooth, silken and improve our hair’s elasticity, while the inclusion of banana flower and pumpkin seed strengthen, condition, thicken and smooth our style promoting healthy hair growth. Last but not least, hydrolyzed pea proteins improve each strand’s strength and integrity by bonding it from the inside out as it repairs damage at the cuticle. The overall effect is softer, plumper curls, coils and waves, detangled knots, and manageable style that’s shiny, sleek and oh-so toss-worthy.
