After years of Lady Gaga-controlled media (or so it seemed), Mama Monster is allegedly taking a vow of silence – in a way.
According to a recent interview with Oprah (the special, Oprah’s Next Chapter: Lady Gaga will air Sunday at 9 pm ET), Lady Gaga is bowing out of the spotlight.
“Other than this interview, Oprah, I do not intend to speak to anyone for a very long time,” Lady Gaga said.
“The latest thing I do is I don’t read a damn thing,” she continued. “No press, no television, if my Mom calls and says, ‘Did you hear about?’ I don’t want to know nothing about anything that is going on in relation to music. I shut it off.”
Understandable, considering Lady Gaga’s been the media queen since her 2009 pop culture innudation. And this absence shouldn’t necessarily be a surprise: in February, the singer was absent from the Grammy red carpet, and was only seen sitting quietly in her seat. Add her desire for a family into the mix, and her vow of silence makes even more sense.
“I want kids, I want a soccer team,” she also said. “And I want a husband. Well, I’m being superfluous. I don’t want to have one kid. I want to have a few.”
But don’t assume Lady Gaga is going on a full-blown hiatus. In April, her Asian and Australian tour kicks off, and U.S. dates will be announced soon. So singing’s okay – just no more headlines.
